"I'm so glad I live in a world where there are Octobers" ~~ L.M. Montgomery
This time of year lends itself to some of the most beautiful colors. Whether you love the oranges, reds and yellows or the more subtle greens, creams, and tans, October allows you the opportunity to decorate your home beautifully, inside and out. Everything from beautiful mums to various shades of pumpkins to gorgeous wreaths, the outside of your home becomes such a welcoming retreat for all to enjoy.
I have thoroughly enjoyed decorating my home for this beautiful season. The cooler weather allows us to spend more time outdoors cleaning up the landscaping, planting fall flowers, and enjoying the fresh air. I've also enjoyed changing up the inside of my house a little more as well ... Fall colored silk flowers, lighted candles in various shades of orange, a few glass pumpkins skattered here and there, the aroma of pumpkin spice and so much more. I've even purchased some Halloween candy early and placed in a ceramic pumpkin on my kitchen island for all to enjoy.
Decorating for October doesn't have to be costly either. Here are a few ideas of how to brighten your surroundings and enjoy the season upon us:
1. Fall Wreaths ~~ whether you purchase a beautiful wreath to hang on your door or create one yourself, wreaths are an inexpensive way to brighten a space year after year.
2. Candles ~~ flameless or lighted candles create such a warm and inviting ambiance to any room. I have a few different colors that I keep on hand. It allows me to change the colors with each season without buying new candles each year.
3. Pumpkins ~~ everywhere we look, there are pumpkins of all shapes, colors and sizes. Placing a few by your front door, on your fireplace mantle, as part of a centerpiece on your dining room table. The uses are endless and create just the right amount of holiday spirit to enjoy into Halloween and Thanksgiving.
4. Aromas ~~ there are so many variations of aromas that shout "October". Whether it be delicious cinnamon or plump, juicy pumpkin or scrumptious brown sugar. Adding aromas to a room creates that crisp, warm smell of Fall.
No matter how you choose to adorn your home, we sincerely hope that you and your family enjoy a beautiful October season.
